Using Essential Oils for the Everyday Ritual

Eco-ista Note: Any one of our essential oils can be added to our base ingredients.

Recipe: We recommend essential oils used in our 2 ounce sizes up to 1 ml or 30 drops.  We recommend essential oils used in our 8 ounce sizes from 1 ml or 30 drops up to 4ml’s or 120 drops depending on your desired outcome.

BATHS
Baths combine the restorative effects of both water and essential oils in a most delightful way.  They are perfect to relieve muscle strain, soothe skin conditions, and promote emotional balance.
Recipe: Use 20-30 drops to a full tub of warm water.  It is best to add the essential oils after entering the water.  For another added bonus, add in our EFA Bath and Body Oil and soak no longer than 20 minutes.

BODY OIL
Touch is a therapeutic and sensual way to experience aromatherapy.  Massage relaxes muscles, and improves muscle tone, circulation, and lymph flow.  It relieves physical tension and in turn mental stress.
Recipe: Use our EFA Bath and Body Oil or our extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil Lotion, fill a 2 ounce PET bottle up to the neck and add 20-30 drops of your favorite essential oil.  Shake well, start at the feet and work up to the shoulders, enjoy!

BOTANICAL PERFUME
Personal fragrance is an enchanting way to express you.
Recipe: In a beautiful sterilized glass bottle add 1 tablespoon of our EFA Bath and Body Oil.  Add 20-30 drops essential oil(s). Apply to one of the pulse points.  Behind the ears, underside of the wrist, inner elbow, behind the knees and on the back of the ankles.

CHEST RUB
Many of our La Bella Terre single note essential oils are recommended to assist respiration and relieve congestion by placing on the chest or upper back.  We also recommend blending similar oils in our shampoo and conditioner bases for prevention during cold and flu season.
Recipe: For chest and back add 20 drops essential oil(s) of your choice to 1 ounce carrier oil.  For shampoo and conditioner add 30-40 drops essential oil into our 8oz base, shake well use as directed.

DEODORANT
If you are prone to odorous perspiration there could be an underlying hormonal or physiological cause.  We recommend dry brushing as a start for the everyday ritual.
Recipe: Add 30 drops of lavender, sage, lemon, rosemary, peppermint or grapefruit essential oils for natural deodorizers and 30 drops of lemongrass for a natural antiperspirant.

COMPRESS
A compress is a damp, folded cloth that has been infused with essential oils and then applied to the skin.  It can be used with either warm or cool water depending on the intended outcome.
Recipe:  Fill a large bowl with water and add 30 drops of essential oil, stirring briskly, lie in the cloth, wring and apply.

FOOT SOAK
Foot soaks are a wonderful way to pamper-yourself-perfect.  When your feet feel good you feel good all over.  You can also add essential oils for your pedicures!
Recipe: Place 30 drops of your favorite essential oil in a foot tub of water.  Adjust the temperature of the water to suit your needs: cool water invigorates and energizes, warm water sedates and relaxes.

MIST
Misting is an economical, effective and efficient way to impart the enticing aroma of essential oils in the room or on your skin.
Recipe:  Fill a 2 ounce bottle including an atomizer lid with distilled water; add 20-30 drops of your favorite essential oil(s).  Shake well each time before spraying.
Eco-ista note: Place a bottle of prepared mist in the refrigerator for the upcoming summer blizzards, mist as usual.

MOISTURE MIST
We’ve been known to carry one of these tote-able misters wherever we go! A quick mist after facial cleansing, or just when you need a lift, helps to plump-up your skin cells, restore your skin’s pH balance, and bring instant refreshment or another way to say it, a drink for the skin.
Recipe: Rejuvenating For Mature Skin: Rose Absolute and Helichrysum.
Balancing For Sensitive Dry Skin: Rose Absolute and Lavender.
Clarifying For Oily Skin: Tea Tree, Rosemary, Lemon and Lavender.

SNIFTERS
This idea stems from an old world smelling salt.
Mid Day Pick Me Up
Recipe: Take a 4 ounce glass or PET recycled plastic jar, add 3 ounces of Dead Sea Salt, and add 28 drops Rosemary and 2 drops Peppermint.   Close the lid, shake well, open and inhale.
Sleep In a Jar
Recipe: Take a 4 ounce glass or PET recycled plastic jar, add 3 ounces of Dead Sea Salt, and add 30 drops Lavender, P.
Close the lid, shake well, open and inhale.
